Good afternoon.

I have just bought a pair of used good condition Hella fog.

I have striped them to give a clean and change the 55w bulbs but i have spotted this extra 4w bulb witch i dint know was fitted tho them.

Do you have these lights? any idea what it is for or has someone fitted as a side light baby?

Im guessing it’s an extra sidelight/marker light. @nobber may know as he’s using some classic lights.

I reckon they are marker lights, are you sure they are fog lamps? Has someone maybe switched out the reflectors? I did it to a pair of Land Rover Safari Spots once, straight swap for a pair of sealed beam units, the idea was I could dip them until I realised what a bad idea that was! Nice result though and will look nice on a pair of fogs.

I think they are fogs.

I believe hella only do fogs and spot in the 500 style lamp.

Im guessing they are fogs as the glass is defused?

Yeah fogs for sure, strange that they have marker lights, nice find though. Not so much diffused, its designed to create a very wide beam pattern, like little triangles sending the light sideways, so yeah, I guess diffused!

Im going through a phase with lamps at the moment! Picked up this on the Bay for 7.50 posted! Metal painted body, nice wee work lamp, Durite do a spot lamp version but with a plastic body so I might see if I can get one and transplant the reflector into this one.

Lee , looking at your photo, I reckon thats a retro fit, it looks like the hole is drilled and a grommet fitted, I could be wrong though.

Oh my!

Nice lamp sir!

Why thank you sir. They come up on eBay all the time cheap as chips because no one has a use for them, not cool enough to compete with LED work lamps! I think they might have been initially used for marine applications, part number is 0-539-00

Yes mate i think this also. I have sent the guy a nice message saying im happy with the lamps just wondering what the extra bulb is but i have had no reply yet.

Im not planning on using it.

I also have a pair of hella 500 spot lamps on the way to (ebay+stella=things turning up by post) lol

Will do a post on them being fitted. Im going for the camel trophy look with them.

Cheers Landy-Lee

I would use them, or at least have the option to, I know what you mean, some of my best buys were Stella induced!

They do, plus a driving lamp which I have on my disco and fitted with back in 1997 still perfect, but then it’ s not just any old lamp it’s a Hella lamp.
Fog lamps have a flat top beam and mounted lower down at the front, unlike a spot or driving lamp, I suspect your fogs have a diy modification, perhaps they were intended to be used on a kit car as head lamps, but certainly Hella have never produced fog lamps with a side lamp bulb fitted.[
