Hi, I have B reg Defender 2.25 and the exhaust manifold broke into 3 pieces about 3 yrs ago. Replaced and it has cracked again. Part number ERC9071 looks like the part, but not sure if that is the right part or not. Have been asked if it is conical or parallel ported but not sure. Any advice appreciated either on why it may have failed or on exactly which part is best to order. Thanks

The white stuff was an exhaust bandage I put on to get home. Didn’t help though👍

You say you have a 2.25… you sure ?
They fitted 2.5 to the early 90
What carb you got is it a twin Weber

(What area are you? )

The very early coil spring trucks A and some B reg still had the 2.25 engine.
Likely manifold is the same as 5 bearing series 3 engine.

Afraid not, but think the same manifold fits 2.25 and 2.5 petrol engines. Check with seller for details.

Does anyone know why these manifolds crack where this one has, and if it's a common issue that can be avoided?

I bought a Weber carb on a manifold some years back. The manifold had cracked just like yours. It was meant to be from a 2.5 4-cylinder petrol but when I did some investigating, it was from a 2.25.
