My viscous remained in the boot until we were out laning on Happy Valley this summer. Temp started to climb above half so stopped and screwed it back on. It remained at half way after this.
On the same day, Kipper overheated due to having no viscous. Luckily, Psulli had his in the boot so fitted that. Kipper never had any problems after that.
Be it laning or road driving and you're working the engine particularly hard in the summer, you need that fan. No question.
Both are 300tdi's, by the way - 1 auto, 1 manual.
