Hi everyone,

Help required.

Just putting the transmission/gearbox back in my 1980 series 3 2.25 petrol and one of the studs for the transmission case has snapped! I need a replacement and possibly a stud extractor!?

Anyone able to help. I’m in oxford.

Thanks, dan

Has it snapped flush with the engine casing?
If not remove gearbox and try grips on it.
The threads on engine side are a Coarse thread, try tapping it round with a pointed punch with a bit heat on the alloy casing should come out.
Or drill a small hole in it and hammer a screwdriver into hole and try turning it out, with being coarse thread they usually come out when you do not want them too.

Thanks for you help!

Managed to get it out And have got the gearbox back in minus one stud. Sealed it best we could filled it and I’ll wait to see if there’s any oil leak until I can source a new stud.

Thanks!
