Hiya fellow landy owners. wow just brought my first landy but i'm embarrased to say im stuck all ready. I'm a qualified mechanic 3 years experience so i know what im looking for. But basically the previous owner said it's sherpa vvan engine< now this goes over my head but its a 2.0l longitudally mounted engine. I have take photos please help me to identify this. i beleive the air box and diesel filter is standard land rover but the engine requires a good flush and oil change< on top of this a new sump gasket, so basically the work can begin asap hehe. hope you experienced peeps can help me with this. Many Thanks

Certainly looks like a sherpa diesel not sure if theres some connection to the montego diesel/turbo diesels?
That diesel filter is a generic type fitted to almost everything new elements are about 2 quid each!

looks like a sherpa from memory.Your oil filter is straight forward got the halfrauds code on it.Use the code to see wat engines its made for and that will help narrow the search

Hi there, just a word of warning, you said something about flushing the engine, please be aware that by flushing you maybe dislodging various lumps of crud that have been happily stuck in a quiet corner of your engine doing no harm then it is disturbed an distributed through the oil ways maybe blocking them. Hopefully it will all be fine. I would suggest doing an oil change after the first time you go for a run and just do it early.

Best of luck
and I think it is a Perkins too.
