Hi..

can anyone please shed some light on how to solve an on going problem...!!

I have a 02 reg TD4, which has starting problems when hot..!! It has been into the local Landrover Garage here in SW France, but after changing both fuel pumps and the Cam Shaft sensor the problem happened again today. However, usually the problem occurs when the car has been run and then left for a little while. It won't start for a couple of hours.. generally just as the breakdown service arrives..! Today though, the car had been left standing for about 5 hours, and when I tried to start it, it wouldn't..!! After leaving it for another hour, I tried again but to no avail, I called the breakdown service and waited. After about 20 minutes, and before the breakdown service arrived, I tried it again.... Voila.. it started..!!

PLEASE CAN SOMEONE SHED SOME LIGHT ON WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM AS LANDROVER DEALERS HERE DON'T SEEM TO HAVE A CLUE..!!!

regards
Paul

you say you have changer cam shaft sensor, its possible that new one is a faulty one ,

poor starting when warm is usually cam shaft sensor , £35 to replace it and easy job,its one thing eliminated ? also check connections are secure ,
good luck

yup i agree wiff john [favorite] but worth exploring the fuel pump relay, this controls both pumps on your model , good tip here earthling . . .get a earthling mate to switch on ignition and wiff bonnet up ,put your hand on the front l/p pump rhs [lookin in] nr wheel arch . . .it should vibrate for about 12-15 seconds then stop. . . .if it doesn't[vibrate] then check fuel relay or fuse [change relay ,like for like] if it keeps running and doesn't stop then it could be a blocked fuel filter or pressure regulator. . .best oh luck earthling :)
