OK. The door hinges wore out,all now replaced and happy. BUT when I slammed the door shut I think something has disconnected as the outer door handle feels as though it isn't doing anything( probably 'cos it isn't ) and I can't open the door. Rather inconvenient. Anybody had similar experience, or any bright ideas? PLEASE!?

You could also try: put the key in the lock, turn the key to the left (unlock position) - hold it in that position and pull the door unlock handle ;)

Thanks for the advice, but I've tried all of those (and thought about angle grinder) I can open the doorlock by climbing in the boot and firtling with a long screwdriver. It seems as though a bar, or link of some sort has come adrift meaning that the inside and outside doorhandles are disconnected. Any other ideas?

If you can open the door from inside - open the door and remove the panel from the inside of the back door and have a look at the lock mechanism - maybe take some pics so we can see if anything is amiss. It will be a simple fix as i guess that the actuation bar has popped off the mechanism at one end ;)

THANK YOU, HORSE62. Thanks to yourpics I can now open it from the inside. Just got to sort out connections for outside handle............

This has just happend to mine, How did you get it open, I have just plugged in the angle grinder, but thought i'd do some research first :)

first soak the handle in penetrating fluid and work it before more involved technical solutions

The dor rattles a little, its not shut properly and it wont open either, The wind blew the door to far open, and then slammed it shut, its twisted/broke the bottom hinge as well

First thing is to replace the hinges!! Then you have to firtle around with a long screwdriver in the lock, trying to find the right lever to lift up. Once you have taken the rear door card off you can see clearly. Then have a look at Horse62's photo's of the rear door lock. VERY HELPFUL PICS.
