Took my freelander in for a service and wanted the gear stick changed (as in the whole plastic unit below the terrain response) because it was squeaking in neutral. Got it back this evening and I now can't put it into 6th, 5th is tight but does go in and it's difficult to go in to reverse. No squeak and it's a lot smoother from 1st to 2nd, 3rd and 4th.
The old was ok but the plastic tubing had gone on the spring and it sometimes got sticky which is why I was looking it changed but never had any problems getting in or out of any gear.
Anyone any ideas what's happened? I'm taking it back to garage on Monday but would like to have an inkling if anyone knows anything.
Is it a fault with the part or does it need adjusted some way or has it not been fitted right?
