i bought a manual diesel p38 at weekend, when driving home the gearbox seemed to jump in to neutral, when i stopped the bloody thing will not go in high, i have changed the transfer motor thingy, but still no joy is my transfer box goosed ?

Hello. Sorry to hear about this.

With the car sat still is it possible to select any gears at all?

Whip the transfer motor off again and manually turn the triangular shaft and see if the hi/low ratios actually engage. Something in the back of my mind tells me that the transfer motor has to be set up with diagnostic same as the heater blend motors.

how are you trying to put it in high, on manual box you have to have it in neutral, clutch down then press the low ratio button and what is the dash display saying

The triangular shaft only turns through 180 degree's. This drives an interlock spool to which the selector fork is connected via a cam track. This converts the rotational movement of the shaft to linear movement of the selector fork. The fork in turn moves the reduction hub, so if the shaft will not turn then one of these part's has seized/jammed and I guess left your transfer box in neutral. If you cannot get it moving then it's box out.
