vegetable oil thats diffarent, wont it harm anything also just how much per tank
thanks for all the rapid replys much appreciated

Currently using Millers Diesel Ecomax, 50ml per tankful on recommendation from a friend. Was very skeptical at first but after a couple of tank fulls, have been pleasantly surprised at the difference it has made to my TD4. Smoother tick-over, noticeably quieter and slightly better pull at low rpm.
I buy it off the Bay for a couple of quid cheaper than Halfords sell it at. Well worth a go IMO

A litre in a tankfull will do.
Much cheaper than snake-oil and just as good, if not better.

Used to use forte in a garage, seen some great results from it inc unsticking a very stuck egr valve

2stroke oil

I agree - 2-stroke in the ratio of 200:1 - so 200ml to a 50 gallon tankful. Some folks use even more.

If its good enough for the German Army, who put it in all their diesels as a matter of course, then it's good enough for me.

Singvogel.

Before adding additives and such, what fuel are you using?

Shell/BP or supermarket stuff?

I know my td4 runs like crap, idles and smokes like a tratter if run on morrisons etc.
Shell and BP make the engine smoother and less tratter like.

I met a bloke with a freelander last friday and he swears by putting asitone do not know if I have spelt it right but its the stuff that cleans nail varnish of he puts 1 cc per ltr of diesel I might just give it a try when I am back home

Reminds me of the Formula Shell disaster:( Diesel additive is injected at roughly 1000 parts per million so don't think I'd risk adding acetone at that sort of ratio.

thank sean on spelling I could not think of it because I thought I had fixed my leak and only to find it has started again and it is giving me a head ache so back to plan A. running without header tank cap on until i get home from Ireland but I will check with him again but I am sure 1cc to 1 ltr

well i bought some wynnes ingector cleaner and its helped a bit but no magical cure lol,is still idles a bit rough spetially on start up but not as bad when warm.also should it idle at 500rpm it seems a bit rattly/vibraty its seems smoother when i just touch the accelorator to 750.any comments would be greatfull.ps my spelling is terrible lol

The idle speed should be 780rpm.

Did you put in a full bottle of Wynns? In a full tank?

How many miles have you done since?

Sounds like another bottle might help.

I don't know any way that the idle speed can be adjusted - it's controlled by the ECU - I think.
