Have you got a handbook for the car, it may describe an emergency release in there.
I know our L322 has it. A little plastic trim to pop out on the upper then pull a cable the the bottom need to slide a screwdriver down to the latch each side.
Sport will/may be different but sure there will be a less drastic route than disc cutters
Do you see a little rectangle plastic trim on the lower tailgate like this pic not the best but just to the right of the light

And I have just tried no need a screwdriver you can actually reach the release with your finger down the gap on the lower this is what your feeling for

Just need to squeeze bast the engine to get to it lol, thanks for the advice ..I am showing an L322 not a sport but can’t believe they haven’t got something similar.
