Rocket ...

Thanks for the link, and for the info - really appreciate a reccomendation.

Will certainly use them in the near future, and tell them you gave me their details (if they speak English ;)

Thanks again to everyone.

Freelander is working fine(ish) ... watch this space :)

... I thought something as bad as that. The click really is loud. If I 'tapped' it with a hammer, would that help me get to the garage?

I thought that maybe as the fob was playing up, it was an immobiliser problem ... 79p battery and all my troubles would be over. Bugger.

I only bought it a week ago - would the garage have been able to hide this? I mean, I started it a few times, and no problems.

Thanks for the quick reply and your help.

I dont know about the Freelander starter motor but the solenoid on TD5 Defender is easy to remove and requires little more than contacts cleaning ;) not even the price of a kit.... :D

I had the same early summer this year, been running no probs that day for approx 200km, parked it and had to move it - then same symptoms you describe. One call to the garage we use all the time, then a lift to the nearest car parts shop one new battery & 25000 forints lighter, problem solved. Sounds yours is/was more fun.
