Any help or guidance would be appreciated! I lost my only car key to my Freelander 2006 diesel automatic. The AA ordered a key from LandRover and have been out to my car to chip it but now my engine will not start :( My dashboard lights up and radio comes on but not a single noise comes from the engine. I’ve tried tapping the starter motor with a hammer, still no luck. Could it be the immobiliser and if so where do I go from here?!

Looks like chip in key is not correctly programmed. This means that the immob will be left on and the engine won't crank over as you have found out!!

Either take key back to LR or to AA and advise them it is not working. Did it work when AA tried it or did they just leave it failed??

The AA just left and gave me the key. They said there’s something wrong with my car as it won’t start and there’s nothing they can do about it. The AA came out via my car insurance so I have contacted them and they are seeing what they can do as I’m covered for key loss but I’m not sure if there is something wrong with my car now. I am going to try and contact a landrover dealership tomorrow so see if they can help. It seems like nobody knows what to do about replacing Freelander keys as I had a private locksmith out who wasted my time for two weeks trying to sort my keys out who gave up in the end :( I thought the AA would’ve known what they were doing.
