Thanks, I will be trolling through YTube over the next couple of days anyway! Just in case I cant get a garage!
I have seen him do it! So I know it can be done! But it's a case of location as to where I am and where the car is parked over the weekend! Would be nice to have a farmhouse lol

Don't know how skinflintish you're aiming to be (exceedingly i hope, as is a must!), but someone i used to work with in pompy used "Auto barn" in waterlooville once a month or so to work on his D2 V8, was about £100 a day hire a few years back, looks like they're still going? Pretty sure they let him use the auto diagnostics to boot which was a big bonus - not much help changing a half chassis ofc but a nice perk!

Especially if it has an empty barn.

Thanks for that I will try them later, out and about at the mo! But yes I'm trying to keep the cost down! As I can do 95% of the work myself! And with a bit of guidance I'm sure I could do the welding! But I want it to look like a Disco 2 and not something out of Mad Max lol

How bad is the corrosion? I took the tank and stuff out of the way and got a mobile auto-welder to fix mine. He charged £60 and did a great job. A lot of the two hours was hammering and preparation.

Even if the rear chassis needs replacing it might be worth getting a professional auto welder just for the welding part.

Yeah, welding upside down, or overhead if you prefer, is a real PITA. The more prep you can do the less the mobile welder will charge. I need to do a similar job soon and I think this is the way I will go.

I have already got Half- Chassis, it was that bad! On found out the extent off it when changing the rear brake pads! The shock mount is somewhere between mine and Heathrow i assume! Lol

Have an army friend doing the welding! For a few "Beer Tokens" and I can do the prep work myself I.e. remove all that I can then measure 10 times before cutting of the old one! (Then practice welding myself with that! (Mig)) so it is just the space (garage) to do the prep and weld??

Yes, that looks terminal. I don't think it helps the way the chassis is constructed in what looks like layers.

It is mate! A few expletives would have been used if I had sent it off for its MoT!! Without knowing it lol
