Hi all, I have a 300TDi EDC Auto and the fuel is draining back when parked on and incline. I have confirmed this because if I park it facing uphill for a day or so its a pain to start and when it eventually does its very lumpy for a few seconds like its running on 3 cylinders. Now the question is is can you get a fuel pump repair kit or am I better off getting a new lift pump. Also when you prime the pump there is no resistance like you would feel a bulb pump or something, its quite floppy

Look forward to your responses

Hi Delwyn Hope your well !
Lift pump needs to be OFF cam to prime!
Take fuel filter of ! How much fuel is in it ?
Leak off pipes can cause fuel to drain back to tank !
Don't think it's lift pump at fault as you state that it starts up but is a pain when been stood !

Hi Steve thanks for that, I am well thank you.
OK, and do what when the filter is off? It does is when full or empty, all the time basically when cold.
I read that somewhere, are these easy to change? Where will I locate these?
OK that's good to know as they're not cheap for an EDC.

I have a similar problem at present, park facing the uphill and reluctant to start, facing downhill, no dramas, I know for a fact I have a pinhole leak in a fuel line and a bit of air gets in, got the pipe to replace it yesterday.

Great, the only thing is is mine is no better when parked facing downhill although its doesn't splutter like it does when parked uphill. How did you locate the pinhole?

Delwyn the fuel filter needs to be FULL !
Are your glo plugs working ?? Don't f/get it's gettin F00000kin cold !
Have you checked the sedi bowl (drivers side back wheel ) Is not full of crap ??

OK I can check that, if its not, what could be the cause?
Yes, replaced them all a short while ago.
No I haven't looked there, something else to check :)
