SWMBO is five foot nothing so the standard seats actually fit her, I've fitted tons of sound proofing so that the garage doing the MOT said its the quietest they've ever been in. Also there is now a partition behind the cab so the heater does warm those on board. I've spent some time fixing the cab leaks And fitted a disco transfer box to cut the revs which has raised the mpg to 32.

It's just becoming comfortable...

Way to go! Exactly my approach. Little things, make sure the heater works, soundproofing, fix leaks as they appear. Fine for daily use if you keep it as it should be! :)

Many years ago I was at Oakhampton when they brought in a landrover that had been on a night exercise unfortunately it had turned left 50 yards short of the road junction!! Stuffed the nose into the ditch and forward rolled it was squashed down below the top edge of the tub. Amazingly all four on board survived though with injuries, including those in the cab being soaked in petrol from the under seat tanks.

Luckily that's not likely to happen to you and under seat tanks were only on a few models.

You would have thought that having specified under-seat tanks they could have been designed to self-seal.
Are the armed forces exempt from a 'duty of care' to the personal ?
 
Yep, the services had crown exemption until 1987, they were exempt everything health and safety and exempt being sued . (and the accident many years ago was in1976)
At one point so was the NHS which is why in the dim and distant past you never heard of them going to court.
In fact at one point almost everything nationalised was exempt as technically it was owned by Her Majesties Government and you can't sue Her Majesty in her own courts
 
Hi all,

As the title suggests I need evidence (picture based if you can) that a defender can be as comfortable as a modern 4x4. I saw a an old series 3 at a car show in the summer that had been modified with new seats, dash, carpets etc... and looked like it would be really comfortable and easy to live with. I didnt take any pictures and before I am allowed to buy one the wife needs convincing.
