Hi all I have got myself a p38 range rover 2.5 bmw diesel and I have a few probs
1 there is a plate behind the bottom pulley my question is 1 what is it
2 is it supposed to be loose
3 if not how do I tighten it up
2 problem we were fitting a new water pump and have been fighting to put the alternator belt back on with the correct adjuster but cant seem to do it are there any tricks to do this
3 I have boke the tensioner bracket so need a replacement does anyone have one to sell me

The plate is part of the vibration damper if it is loose you need a new damper. They are not cheap. Then loop of belt is passed through it and over water pump drive then fed around other pulleys. See RAVE for belt run.
