Hi Experts and enthusiasts out there ! I am looking to buy a T reg 1998 Disco 1, V8 with LPG, only 95,000 miles, which drives well BUT there is a leak from underneath, i have tried to attach picture for you to see, it seems to be at the back of the Bell housing before the Handbrake, above a plate with 10 Bolts.

Can any of you help, I cant get it to a garage as he lives a distance away!

Also anything to watch for on the V8...it has good history and all rust spots are good !

All help would be really appreciated, I don't want to buy a PUP !

Thanks

it could be coming out of input seal of t/box and running down between the two boxes or more likely out of intermediate shaft which runs completely through box its sealed with o ring if you look half way up box you will see shaft

Haven't got a clue about TB seals, but if its not major, I wouldn't worry, just make sure it's serviced on time, and if it gets worse, then start looking at fixing it. As for your question about the v8's - check the coolant (level, signs of HGF - white creamy ****e) when its cold, take it for a good long test drive, get it up to temp and dont be afraid to thrash it a bit then let it cool down again and recheck the coolant. Same for the oil - if its all ok, then it's likely a good one. LPG - Make sure it switches over smoothly - no backfires etc.. If its a basic system then when you turn it to gas it will switch straight onto gas, dont be worried if it stalls, more complex systems change over at a set number of revs to make it change smoothly so aslong as it changes smoothly at say 1500rpm (thats where ours changes onto gas), going from LPG to petrol should be almost seamless and shouldn't require revs - if it does then it could just want the idle bringing up a touch.

I assume this is from a dealer as you have taken a pic - if so you are covered if it goes wrong, it is classed as goods not fit for purpose. You are covered by this for 6 months - see MHMs sticky post in general chat - http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f16/buying-crock-****-if-you-already-have-76002.html
