Hi
I need your help.
I have recently changed the oil pump and a turbo on my TD5. It began with the oil pump sprocket came loose on the highway.
I have used the car for a few days and today on the highway, there was a loud knocking sound. It knocks along with the speed but it sounds very little at idle. Took me gently home. I´m living next door to a garage and there they listened with a stethoscope but could not immediately locate the sound.
What can it be?

Maybe the oil pump problem has damaged some of the crank bearings? How serious was the oil pump situation? Was the engine shut off immediately?

I expect you can. You may as well take the thing out though and start again. Did you Loctite the bolt on the pump this time?

Have you considered buying a second hand engine? A rebuilt one from Turners come in at around 3k or 4k GBP, but you could find a low mileage one for under 1k, which would be a simple bolt in job.

You'll be lucky to find a low mileage td5 for under a grand, around £1500/£2000 some are fitted with a warranty check on ebay

hi, when the oil pump fails o a td5 they nearly always damage the crank shells, these can be changed easily changed with engine in.
