- has sideways-facing seats?
There's no legal requirement to fit seat belts in sideways-facing seats. The human body bends forward from the waist - not sideways - the potential for internal and spinal injury is high if a passenger uses a seat belt in a sideways-facing seat. For similar reasons, the type-approval standard for child seats and boosters does not include fixing them in a sideways-facing seat.

A child who is required to use a child seat/booster (ie, all those under 135 cms tall who are also under 12 years old) cannot travel in a sideways-facing seat. A child who needs to use a child seat or booster must use a forward or rear-facing seat.

So you dont need seat belts on sideways seats (thats what you asked isnt it):)

thats cool. I was about to install a rear bench seat and buy/install lap belts. So no seatbelts. Cool. I may not even ever use the rear seats, but we all like options right!

Update: V5, does it cost to amend, RE: increased seating. Also is there a limit to the number of seats you can install. I guess in a 90 with a cubby holder you could get 8 people, 6 in back and 2 in front.

you need to think more on lines of 6 people, as they were only a 4 seater in rear with 3 posssible up front . The 110 seating in rear were longer seats ,plus second row of course.

I just checked my V5 and it has no details about the number of seats. Only really talks about engine size and class of vehicle (maybe due to being a 1991, and old). So If I increase the number of seats, there is no reason to inform and amend the V5? just the insurance policy. 6 people sounds more reasonable.

the class of vehicle can be intimation of if seats in rear, you will need to tell your ins co as they will have quoted on number of seats originally .
