Just had new turbo and full engine recon. Car comeback from garage with damaged propshaft and other problems. Garage now want 600 for extra repairs yet am confident wasn't a problem when it went. Thy have me over a barrell as cannot test engine properly with car not running. What do I do?

Hi and welcome to landyzone (intro's always very welcome ;))

Two things to start ;
1) Tell us your year/model/engine it will help
2) Don't expect a reply within 4 minutes

Doesn't sound like good news to me.
Obviously not a LR dealer, independant LR garage ? Have you used the garage before??The early L322's did suffer problems with front Diffs. There was a recall.

HTH

Hi
Thanks and sorry just at my wits end
Car is 2004 3.0td range rover vogue
New garage but not lr. Located about 100 miles from me used them as seemed good value and warranty. They have agreed to fix other issues but car did not go in with this problem and came back pretty much undrivable.

Would a propshaft doughnut and bracket plus propshaft rebalanced and fitting really be 600. Seems a lot. Also think that this was damaged by them when engine removed as they only mentioned problem after car had been reassembled.

hi there, I take it you had no problems with the prop shaft before the repair?
you could ask to see the damaged prop and judge for yourself or get a second opinion!

Is it definitely prop-shaft, not driveshaft? Unless I am mistaken to remove the engine requires driveshafts off but not the prop-shaft.
..What are the symptoms of the un-driveabilty?

Are you a woman? Bad enough when a bloke gets done but conning a gal is the lowest.

Only thing that can be done beyond the impasse is a threat to sue.

Proof of perfect prior function may not be deemed a prerequisite in this scenario.

the only the damage they could do would be have to remove the c.v joint with a bloody hammer, if it's seized in the hub?? Do these unbolt from the box or are they slid in? If it was seized into the hub they could split the shaft behind the c.v. Joint and worst refit a new boot and grease!!
on most cars you can undo the track rods and lower swing arm and just swing them out of the way. Not sure about the 2004 RR..
what does tha' think?

its called 6 of 1 ,half a dozen of the other, your going to get nowhere imo
That's very unhelpful....imo;)
A dousing with petrol on the garage proprioters onsie and the dramatic removal from ones pocket of a solitary swan vesta ignited by a seasoned thumb nail can change the dynamics of an argument in a heartbeat. Moohaahaahahahahahaahahahahahahhahahahaah

i tell it the way it is not what you want it to be ;),+ threats to burn them down wont get you anywhere tbh

No threat intended, but If you include giant marshmallows into my tongue in cheek scenario then there is a positive outcome, everyone loves toasted marshmallows.;)
