I've been changing the oils in my 2a - spent a fortune on Millers oils, changed the filter, filled it up with oil then put it back. About to refil the engine and then realised I'd put gear oil in the filter, not engine oil... What a pill*ck!

Should I bin the filter and get a new one, or do youthing the little bit thats been absorbed by the paper in the filter will be OK? I need to make a decision quickly!

Cheers

The way I see it is that oil mixes with oil. I would just drain what you can and refill with your usual stuff. I can't see any issues arising

Should be absolutely fine. Gear oil is just thinner and more refined. And as Dr evil said, their stuff is excellent, so should mix OK.

Gear oil is _thicker_ hence the higher numbers but it will be fine....I ran mine with ATF in it for a few days to give it a clean as it has more detergents in it!

I would bin it...unless you dont have a spare and need it right away...

Just may not let things flow to well at first....
