Hi all PLEASE HELP?
Just recently bought a disco 200Tdi and have a niggling problem?????

What it is is as follows.

As soon as i turn the engine over and weather its idelin or reveing throughout the gears i have this anoying sound that with accelaration increases and decreses with foot of the peddle and what i can only discribe as bein bloody annoyin

Its like a constant ppfttt (if that sounds like a sound HAHA)

I can also describe it as like forced air being expeled out of something at high pressure BUT IN SHORT BURSTS?

The performance of the discovery has not been lost so im totaly at your mersy ladys and gentlemen?

All information will be verry well taken on board

Tonz:)

Get the bonnet open and turn it on, I would think you might find air from somewhere throughout the air leaking from the intake system; turbo pipe etc... or at the manifold itself.

The manifold I think(?) will always be positive pressure so it will be some air being blown out somewhere, some soapy water could help you look.

Have someone give it a few extra revs while you look, this will get the turbo blowing and hence more air to escape from the hole.

Could be a leak with your vacuum pump, or servo, check it also.

Have a look, just some ideas.

So tell me folks is it something to worry about or is it an every day kinda d i y repair job?
Thanks for the info
Much appreciated

Its not really a worry but sort it, just means some of the air the turbo is pushing through being lost. It would be worth looking to see where its coming from, if its a rubber pipe its only going to get worse, it could be a loose pipe clip, or the gasket on the manifold (£6 for a new one, and half an hour to take off the manifold - which would be worth taking off and cleaning out the EGR soot).
