Land Rover was running fine but due for a service. I had not started it for a couple of weeks.Replaced the spark plugs, HT leads and distributor cover but could not get it started again.

Have replaced coil, contact breakers and condensor. Checked for a spark with in-line tester and that seems ok.

Fuel is reaching cylinders because plugs are wet after turning her over.

i thought that the problem might be old fuel so the tank was drained and refilled.

Still nothing - does not fire at all. Battery is charged and turns engine fine.

What can i try next?

Thanks

If you've got a decent spark on all four cylinders I'd check you've put the HT leads on in the right order. Order is 1342 (it's cast into the inlet manifold) cylinder 1 is at the front, should be fed from the dizzy cap connector that points to the front of the block, dizzy goes anticlockwise.

Thank you for your help. I had got them in the right order but No.1 lead was connected to the wrong distributor terminal.

I've put it right and it started first time!

I will not make that mistake again!

Cheers
