hi all

Decided to get myself back in a fatty after a year out with a Kia (yeah I know)

So I have a 2008 3.6 TDV8 120k I bought four weeks ago, test drove it twice to make sure I was happy

It's got great history and the turbos, EGRs, compressor all new in last year

A few days in It started going into limp mode when I kicked it down throwing a transmission fault up, so straight to my mates garage for code read and gearbox service. Picked it up and gave it the beans a bit to check and black smoke so straight back to garage for a them to look
Turns out it was a split rocker cover that was opening on high revs that was causing the original fault so had that done.

Then about a week latter it starts to throw up transmission fault limited gears available but only in the morning, turning on and off seems to clear it, but every day it would get more faults like HTC inactive and then parking brake fault, it's like it has a virus!

Back to garage for code read and it's showing various comps errors, garage cleared them and cleaned up a multiplug they susspected was causing it

Complete system reset and on my way again

Two days latter transmission fault limited gears etc and park brake fault again only in the morning, it sits all day sunbathing at the station and at 6pm it's absolutely fine

I've had the battery tested and it's fine

My mechanic is scratching his head and so am I to be honest

I've had a read of other members with the problem but I can't find any posts that actually say how they finally fixed it

I love the old girl and realy don't want to have to off load it to WBAC I'd rather fix it

Thanks in advance for any advice

Paul

It's only a year old I got the receipt with the car, wondering if the garage that done it will honour the 3 yr warranty
But I'm willing to do it if you think it may work?

Stick in there it will be sorted:) as said ^^^^^

What battery? Fit a bigger 1 (amp/cca) they are available and it fixes many faults.

Do a search on here and you will see so many silly faults cured by a good battery.

First thing on the list and then work from there.

Good luck you will love it in the end......promise :)

Cool I'll get one from euros tomorrow
Is it better to get a AGM over a lead acid???
I remember changing one on my old fatty it was a pain in the ass
Thanks for the tip mate

Oh and any pics of your range rover? If I can keep my D3 going for a few years I might pluck up the courage to go for one. I'd want the 4.4 tdv8

You can buy from them direct, fast delivery etc etc
