hi all,
got a big prob at the moment got into the disco 93' 200tdi put the key in and turned,the lights on the dash came on,stero came on waiting for the glow plug light to go out,then tried to start dead! nothing at all total silance??.i have checked the batt,had the starter motor off thats working fine,the only thing i can think of is the imoberliser my imoberliser has never worked since i have owned it but what eles could it be. any thoughts would be great. cheers gavdisco

Is the red immobiliser light staying lit on the dash? Is the ignition feed to the starter turning live when the ignition is turned to the start position?
 
Mine did this (same spec/yearas yours) and it turned out to be the earth lead from body to engine block, To get me out of trouble I just run a jump lead from battery earth to the engine block.

Its possible there is enough earth if you like to power lights ect but not the starter.

Give it a try and if not try running a wire from battery pos to the small terminal on the starter, if it works then you need to check out the starter relay/wiring/ignition switch ect. It's all pretty basic stuff but can be very time consuming.

cheers dave i have tried the bridging of the starter but havent tried the earth will try it tommrow and let you know.when i took the starter off and put power throught it it worked fine

i also forgot to mention that the central locking system stoped working aswell
