Hi All,

I posted a thread on here ages ago about wanting to convert back from the stupidly noisy and pointless K&N style filter I have at the moment and putting the original oil bath one back in place. I need to put the mounting bracket, which is battery and air filter combined, back in since I don't have one currently (battery under the front passenger seat).
Well, I have the parts and finally am hoping to have the time this weekend.

When I come to look at how to mount the bracket though I'm confused. There doesn't seem to be any obvious way to mount it. I've looked at pics from the engine bay thread last summer (http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f6/11-111-show-us-your-engine-bay-197280.html) and a few others and it's become no clearer.
There were a couple of posts from johnny_curt_1 which showed it as well as I've seen it, including the second post in the thread above and the final post in this thread:

But as far as I can tell it appears to be held in place by magic and prayer!

Also, mine has an extra plate in one corner of the front end of the battery section which sticks up about 5" and has a couple of bolt holes that seems to be missing from johnny's. Kind of suggests it should be bolted to the front end of the landy somewhere around where the horn currently resides.

Thanks in advance for any advice, or possibly even photographic assistance, anyone might be able to provide.

If I remember correctly, the combined air filter and battery tray are bolted directly to the chassis.

Original battery tray base is welded to 4 pieces of angle iron that come up from the chassis the bracket goes over this and bolts to the angle iron legs.

Since there are no brackets on my chassis and no obvious "proper" way of attaching it I've manufactured myself a set of mounts based on some angled steel and several bolts through the bodywork for lateral stability.It took almost all day Sunday, but she's all sorted now and she's a damn sight quieter.

Yup, so's mine, but there was no mountings for the assembly at all.
Also, my battery tray has no floor to it, meaning I couldn't even put the battery back in there if I wanted to and making mounting it just that little bit more entertaining.

I do of course now have one somewhat unseen consequence of doing this. The noises have changed drastically and I can now hear all sorts of things I couldn't before (including the other people shouting within 10ft of her )
I now have to re-figure out what noises are OK, what are concerning and judge the revs based on a completely new engine noise.
Still, it's a nice problem to have I guess
