Ive just acquired a 12 year old TDi (200?) to use as a general hack.... as I also own a village pub, my excuse was that I needed something voluminous to bring stuff from a to b: but my question is;
what mods/changes/upgrades would you advocate and why ? Most of my driving will be fairly civilised (not been off road since my army days but heck did I enjoy it then!) and I might venture out into something hilly and muddy. I know everyone will have their own thoughts but please chip in!
Regards

Location - you want grid ref or postcode
bottom end of moors - (BL7) not sure where the local boonie bash is but bear with me
yep we do breakfast - and its fresh cooked too - bed is such a variable concept I find

Why change anything?
Use it, then if you find it isn't doing something as well as you had hoped, then think about changing it.

I`m in the same boat. Recently picked up a 200 tdi. Personally a decent roof rack for carrying kayaks and a cycle rack will be first accessories. However i will be steadily going over the whole vehicle changing oils, servicing, waxoyling etc to make sure everything is as it should be.
After you`ve had the vehicle for a while and enjoyed it it may become clearer what accesories you want. I want to do a bit of off roading so will put various guards on underneath, but it may at some point be worth fitting i winch. Not sure at the mo. Just see where it takes me.:cool:

Agree - get it Waxoyled - there's a bloke at Greenham who does a good job. The one I had was brilliant but rusty as hell. The Waxoyl protects the wiring as well mine started to perish:cool: .
Also check your back axle for rust. Mine had rusted through and started leaking at the diff.
