Help!

have just got a set of defender steps and am trying to fit to a series3. looks like they will fit ok - chassis to sill distance - but no holes line up. Does anyone have any instructions so that I can second guess where the steps are meant to fit?

What, side steps I'm guessing then? Adz has got sum fitted. Dunt show in any of the Roadies pics do they?

Anyway, steps is fer gurlz..............an' old men!

Sorry folks - yup side steps.

This long-shanks is OK - but yu seen G - she needs a ladder at the mo to get into the Dibnah - so I had to promise a set of steps on the passenger side. Just thought I wud ask if sumone had some "dummies guide to side-step fitting" :D

Fitted some to me 2a ok all though because 2a have wider sills they dont fold all the way up.
I think at best i got 1 and 1/2 holes to line up in the floor bar and i had to drill the rest.

If you want i will bring crusty over when i pick up that engin and you can have a look.

reet folks.

fitted Defender passenger side step to my series tonite. All went fine except the support bar is lower than the chassis. Any constructive ideas?

I'd a fort that you'd a been better spendin yer time gettin the ferkin fing rinnin before worrin about fittin side steps ffs heidi!

its rinnin atreat thanks Trewy. I still gotta get rear axle fixed (welded or Metal mastic) but I only had an hour tonite so i used it to do summat else.

nope - yu obviously aint read my gazillion freds;)

it was a broken vacuum advance mechanism - it wouldnt stay on the locating pin in the dizzy and the timing cud move all over the place. Wud neva have found it except i took the dizzy out. Replaced vac advance and roberts ya sisters brother.

if robert were me sisters bruvva the eed be me yer senile git.
robert's me muvva's bruvva (true).

here are a few picciesto show what I mean. I think there are a few options.... "dog leg" support to go higher on the chassis. Mount a bracket on the end of the gearbox crossmember or to alter the end fitting so that it is horizontal and fit to gearbox crossmember.
