Urgent Help needed Guys & dolls my first experiance of my P38 2.5 DSE suffereing from an immobilized engine.
Went to sainsburys today parked in car park, shopping all done, returened to car, key in ignition and bleep bleep engine diasbled?? Then read push remote but nothing. Tried entering the EKA code but nothing, now am i doing this right as the hanbook I have is US and I'm thinking a US left hand driver EKA door seauence may be the total opposite to the way the UK spec work.
Can anybody tell me the procedure and if it fails where do I go to next. My RR is currently in the recovery yard awaiting my next instructions to either main stealer or independant. I must say that that prior to this happening the key remote opened the central locking but now fails to work at all except in the drivers door, when I was trying to enter the EKA code the indicator lights were flashing and the red LED on the dash but all failed. I am in Aylesford Kent if anybody can help.

When you input code. Turn four times from centre to left and back. Indicators will flash. Then put EKA code in, indicators will not flash when you do this. If code is correct you should hear all doors open. Put key in and start car.
 
Probably interferance from WiFi etc in the car park, push it up the road and it will probably go. When you get it home think about fitting the latest RF receiver which is much less prone to this type of problem..

The EKA code will allow you into the vehicle without setting off the alarm, but will not necessarily allow you to start the engine. This will probably be down to a problem with the 'passive immobiliser,' which is basically a small coil fitted around the ignition switch that 'recognises' your key. These regualrly forget themselves (don't we all?) but can usually be overcome if you just put the key in the switch and leave it there for about half an hour.
These immobilisers are so unreliable I have 'programmed out' quite a few of them using my Hawkeye - shame you're not a bit nearer...

Sounds like it's gone out of sync then. EKA code only switches alarm off. It won't resync the ECM. Is the fob flashing when you press it?
 
Wammers the fob is not flashing but never has since I've owned the car, I guess the red LED is blown on the fob. It done this once before but as soon as it said on display press remote it re synced and was fine this time it won't have it, not sure where to go from here mate.
I do recall being in the same supermarket about a month ago and had trouble opening the doors via the remote. Like Datatek stated could it have been some interfearence within the radius of where my vehicle was parked? Or is my key fob knackederd? Has any interfearence caused it to go out of sync:confused:

If you locked it with the fob then opened it with the key that will cause the alarm mode. Normally all you need to do is press the fob to cancel it. The batteries in your fob may have died. But syncing the key to the alarm and syncing the ECM to the BECM are two different animals don't confuse them. If the BECM has lost sync with the ECM. No amount of EKA code input will do anything for you. You need someone with a syncmate or other diagnostic device to sort it out.

Did manage to re-open it with the fob and at this point is where it died on me when placing key into ignition, so I am guessing the BECM has lost sync with the ECM? I guess I need somebody local to me with a syncmate or a trip to the local independant garage. would this also cause the remote to stop working as since today with the engine disabled warning my remote no longer locks or unlocks? The batteries dying in the remote would. As the led does not work you have no indication if they have died or not. But i suspect they have if it won't lock and unlock the car. The loss of sync with ECM/BECM also happens if the car battery suddenly dies and the voltage from it drops.

A low FOB battery warning does come up on the message centre, but it is not reliable:rolleyes:
If the car is still in the same place in the supermarket car park, it is likely that the BECM is being swamped by spurious signals, you could try taking the blue wire of the RF receiver.
It may or may not have lost sync with the ECM, could just be the BECM is confused by the spurious RF. Others have found that by moving away from the source of the signals the system recovers.

I was thinking of going down there and giving it a try again, could you confirm that if the batteries have gone flat in the FOB would this just affect the locking & unlocking of the vehicle or would it also cause the loss of sync from the BECM to ECM?
I'm guessing I'm gonna need to get this re synced, Gonna put a post on here to see if there is anybody close by with a sync mate. Thanks for your kind help Datatek and to Wammers too.;)

Flat batteries can cause los of sync between the FOB and the car, dending on year it will automatically re-sync or you will have to do it.
It will not cause the BECM/ECM to lose sync.
Worth going down and trying if you now have a working FOB as it is away from the RF that probably caused the problem in the first place.

:welcome2:hi anorak p.m. me and il give you my mobile and will help you re-sync it over the phone also give me your e-mail address and il send you the re-sync script ,,when you ring make sure your batteries are good on your remote and have a philips screwdriver and a penknife with you at the car ,,cheers mozz:):):)

Update, Good News at last.
New batteries in keybob, but still would not unlock on remote, batteries taken back out and contact prongs adjusted in fob, batteries back in and hey ho fob works, key in ignition and she fired up. Thanks everybody for help and advice,
If anybody can confirm I guess if the remote batteries are dead or like mine poor electrical contact I take it the immobilizer will kick in and disable engine??

Yes your right Wammers & thanks mate, I was unable to access the car due to the extended bank holiday as it was in the recovery agents yard.
The connections in my key fob are a little iffy, so I guess it may be in my interests to order a new one from LR, been quoted £157.00 from Guy Salmon of Maidstone.
