the fact that it does it only when the drive train is in gear, and not when the transfer box is in neautral, makes me hesitant with the clutch.
however if its slipping, then that may be a seperate issue to address.
mine slips on steep junctions, not severe but enough to notice. been like it 3 years now.

not saying your mechanic is wrong, but a worn clutch will end up without drive, rather than getting it stuck in gear.
flip side is he's probably got access to drive the motor to diagnose it.

yes, when the clutch is done is an ideal time to swap the fork.
when i do a clutch, if its a normal fork (not later reinforced), i weld a reinforcing strip across the back of the pivot.

second time, where abouts are you?

I took the plunge - bought a clutch kit, valeo, and a h/duty clutch arm.
Dropped it at the garage this morning. Get it back mon/tue. I'll let you know how it goes.....

SORTED

It was the clutch. Old one had started to disintergrate. New valeo unit in + h/duty clutch arm.

It has also sorted out my heavy (knee ache foot ache heavy) clutch pedal problem. Bonus.

thanks for all the help

Yeah I often read threads and they lead nowhere, i.e a result/fix.

so i thought it might be nice to end one.

thanks again
