Three days ago the car just died. Having just left town I accelerated from 30 - "Unsure"; its something I have previously done post passive DPF re-gen just to see if any light smoke is issued. If there was, after that all is normal and all ok.
I say not sure of the attained speed because I was watching the road and rear view mirror; normally it would be around 60- 70mph.
All of a sudden the car seemed to slightly "lunge" like very briefly touching the brakes, the engine had cut out and we just drifted to a stop.
Tried to re-start a couple of times but no go, I could hear something "turning" but but not very loud and definitley no metallic clunking noise. Got a restricted performance but as we were half in & half out of a live lane on a busy dual carriageway we got out the car to safety.
The car was recovered to the Independent Garage I use & we collected a replacement car and were on our way in one & 1/2 hr to a booked event.
I have heard of "Limp / Safe Mode" but never experienced it thankfully.
My initial thought was that I may have over done it with the acceleration, & over rev'd it; but is that possible.
As the garage is flat out for a few days I'm still awaiting new's, I am just dreading bad news and wondering if anyone can shed any light at all of what could possibly have gone wrong, & could it be a "something needs re-setting" Definitely clutching at straws, any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
