OH SH*****

changing the cambelt.
must have had too much slack between between crankshaft and exhaust side camshaft pulley.

I rotated by hand. Re checked markings and now my two camshaft marks don't line up.
they are one tooth out.

******

Don't know if inlet needs to come down or exhaust side to go up

Still finding it difficult to get the belt on

is deffinetly the correct belt.

very tight to get over the autotensioner, must still be getting too much slack between crankshaft and exhaust cam.

Im trying, belt over crankshaf,t over both cams exhaust side first and then over water pump and finaly the tensioner.

Well perhaps I was just being silly.

had a fag. Watched youtube cambelt video.

Time to try again... lined up crank pulley. Took pulley off. Marks were correct. Looked up at cams and they were lined up!!!!

When I put the lower timing cover on I didnt bolt it as wanna gunna take off again to check the crank pulley markings below it

Perhaps the cover had slipped when I lined it up with the plastic and checked the cams.

never mind. Deffo ballsed it up first time though.

putting it back together and see if she fires up.

cringe.

Well,

all back together
fired up straight away and ran fine. Feeewwww!!!
Time for a shower and a fresh pair of pants as I may have soiled myself! !!!

The secound time I timed it up it looked wrong again but on reflection it was fine, my mistake was loose fitting the lower cover. As when setting the crank it wasn't in its true position. When I timed it up to the block all was fine.

Lesson learnt :(
