Hi all have a 99 2.0 diesel station wagon freelander 1 it started to make a rattling noise yesterday have removed engine guard and I can feel a ring of metal loose and spinning and that's where the noise is coming from when reved over 2.5 k it goes but what is it and how do I get it sorted? Is this in need of a new cambelt kit? If do how much am I looking? At

the belt tensioner is under there(just checked in haynes manual) so it must be that.

I know crap aint it how will I get it to a garage lol

that looks like the adjuster ring that's collapsed, so it would be in-advisable to start the engine imho

mobile mechanic or a LandyZoner near you mate ;)





if it's the latter you'll need lots of tea and cake :D
 
alternatively yes it is



if you know how to time it up correctly but i'd also fit a new belt and other associated stuff at the same time just to be safe
