Hi all i'm new, I live in Jersey Channel Islands and have come accross a 1997 Rangie sport for sale 4l auto for £500

Apparently there is a problem with the ecu hence the price.

A brief call with the seller and he said the following

Body mint
Tyres and alloys as new
Mileage 100,000
FSH with Landrover dealer
Air suspension has been sorted and done

Question

Can I fit another ecu from a range rover same year, engine etc?
or
Do I need a brand new ecu?

Will it need remapping - as there is only one garage here that does that kinda thing and they charge £120 per hour!!!

Any info would be great

Thanks

Sam

I think what people here are trying to tell you is that the RR Sport first got released in 2004, so if it's a 1997 model you've seen, then it's not a real Sport.

Start by checking the V5 to see what's it's registered as.

Regarding the ECU, which ECU is u/s as there are several in a P38 RR ?

snap their hands off..97 sport???

The ECU will have to be from the same model as well, eg HSE, SE, Dirty Diesel. Not sure how the Key will respond though
