No forward drive in high or low gear!!!
Now then, can anyone help, I have recently bought a 90 I was returning from a playday on the motorway when I lost power, now all I can get is reverse gear + diff lock, I can not get any forward drive in any gear in high or low, has this happened to anyone else or any ideas, Thanx Dave39

Me again just found wheel bearing collapsed, could this cause it??

No the wheel bearing will not cause this. If you can get drive in reverse you can rule out prop shafts, cvs, halfshafts etc. It has to be a problem directly related to forward gears.

when you say thats all you can get, is stick going into gears properly ,and is that rev in difflock only

the only way i can think of with lt77 that rev possible but forward in any gear not would be input gear /mainshaft splines worn and hooked over so catching in rev

Your half shaft is ****ed. Any of em. Do mondo mode - put it in diff lock and see if it moves then, if so, it's yer half shaft (any one of four!)

Oh. Sorry, i lost interest at the only 1 post bit i'm afraid!

Yer gearbox is ****ed.

It won't drive at all in forward or reverse in high or low range, front prop is spinning, it will drive in diff locks,

why didnt you say that cos that is busted half shaft ,diff, you said it drove in reverse which would give a different answer

It won't drive at all in forward or reverse in high or low range, front prop is spinning, it will drive in diff locks,
then what i said is the problem!

However that is considerably different to what you said above, which misled these far more intelligent people than i!

if front prop is spinning. something is broke in the front axle.... could be diff, halfshaft broke or its splines worn or most likely one of the cv joints.... look in busters photo guides for how to replace a cv joint

Thanx for the tips, first time on one of these sites, sorry for the cock-ups... Cheers
No probs matey, don't be scared of the septic skeptics, it sounds like a half shaft but you've taken poss info from us - we are now intrigued and your findings will help others, please do stick around!
