You can use any 14 cux from a 3.9, because they are set up depending on what tune resistor you have, I'm guessing you have a manual, non cat car anyway, so you should be able to buy any 14 cux for a 3.9,

so if you wanted to run an auto you have to remove a resistor that goes to earth and wire it to the inhibitor switch, and if you want to run a lambda non cat you. Select a tune resistor which is for a lambda non cat, or for a non lambda non cat a different tune resistor for this set up.

Hi
Am running a 3.9 manual non cat non lambda in a defender. I have a auto and cat ecu. When running rover gauge I get a drive/reverse switch that's altering the fuel map constantly to stop a auto stalling which I don't need and it confuses it as it try's to hit base idol on warm up. Same storey on the lambda side it's over fuelling to hit default because no readings from lambda. It runs and runs well but to get it running a1 I want to swap the ecu and also fit a speed transducer.

If I understand you right, then with rover gauge does the ECU show a fault code, or does the warning light come on, if it does the this means you need a different tune resistor to get the the ECU to run as a non lambda, and then you will have to fit a resistor to the wire which should lead to the inhibiter switch on an auto.
If you already have a non lambda tune resistor, and a resistor in this inhibitor wire, then any v8 14cux ECU will fit and run as a non lambda, manual.

Hi.
Thanks for post. Have plugged rover gauge in and am running fuel map two which is wrong! Done some digging and ordered a (green) resistor current one (white) to make it run correct fuel map for non landda.

Am a little confused about the resistor in the inhibitor wire for the auto!? Is there already a resistor there?? Or do I need to add one??? And which/what do I need!? I will have to look at a wiring diagram to find wire colour unless you can help?? What will putting a resistor in do.

Many thanks always learning really appreciate your help!

On an automatic wiring loom there's a wire which should run to the inhibitor switch on the gearbox to tell the engine that its in/out gear, but for a manual there should be a resistor to earth to tell the engine it's a manual. This should be self explanatory on a wiring diagram.

hi in the same boat here in middle of fitting 3.9 hot wire engine auto into 3.5 manual motor keeping manual box .
same question is it simply a case of soldering a resister between the correct wire from efi multi plug and a good earth
if so does anyone know the correct resistor to use and were to get them
cheers
