Hi, I'm brand new to the forum and to owning a range rover with a dealership fitted tow bar. It's the detachable type and the electric socket is behind the little removal panel above the tow bar slot.
My car has a european standard 13pin socket fitted.
The trailer I am about to buy has a 7 pin lead.
I have spoken to the LR dealer and they can supply, for the princely sum of £45.00  an adapter. Part no. VPLVT0064
I have looked on ebay and seen loads of other adapters that do the job but my question is this.

How do I know that another option will fit onto the car, the cheaper alternatives all look a 'bit bulky' and I am worried I might buy one only to find it is too bulky to fit onto the socket. Has anyone had the same scenario? Alternatively, has anyone got the official part (VPLVT0064) who would like to sell it on?

Any help and advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Brilliant. You must recognise me… :D I will pay £45.00 once I establish that a £10.00 one won't do the job.

If a 10 quid one will do the job then better still. I can spend the remaining £35.00 on a good bottle of champagne.

wow....
Pop into Halfords. Ring do the adapter for about £13 I think..

I have one on the l322 and it is fine..std plugs, nothing to do with LR.

Best wishes..

The 13 pin plug should be the same regardless of the car its on so the adapters should also be the same fitting

What I think he means is will it fit into the socket and not foul the recess in which the 13pin socket is located

35 squid for a bottle of champagne :5bparty:

I paid £7 on ebay for mine, it's very small and compact, I use it when towing the trailer with the 7 pin connector, my caravan is 13 pin.
£45 is a rip off.

Anything from the dealers is overpriced
Get yourself to a camping shop
GOoutdoors.co.uk And you can try it in the carpark then take it back if it dont fit
If iit's sold as a 13 to 7 adaptor, why on earth would it not fit? You do have to be careful though, they also sell 7 to 13 adpators and they are much bigger.

Just for the record. There is no such animal as a GOOD bottle of Champagne, it is all ****e. Expensive Champagne is bought and drunk by ostentatious people with no sense of taste. And even less sense of value. :D:D
