Hello there,
Please can someone help with a few questions relating to 12S caravan sockets. I am totally confused.
There is a 12S kit for the Series 2 Disco STC50180. From the Rave disk it only appears to have two connections, green & yellow ( + earth) into the loom behind the offside light cluster.
From what I have read on the net, the wiring config. changed for 12S sockets from around 1999, as the internal caravan wiring systems were changed. As my caravan is a brand new 2006 model, I assume I will need to wire the socket to suit the later configuration.
As far as I can establish, the fridge supply needs to be live only when the engine is running, connected to pin 6 of the 12S socket & earthed through pin7. A permanent 12 v feed is connected to pin 4 & all earths on the van, other than the fridge return to pin 3. Pin 1 is for a reversing light.
If this is the case, then which two feeds are the green & yellow wires in STC50180 providing? I was going to buy an STC50180 kit, or make one myself & tap into the connection points shown on the loom, but before I do this I want to make sure I have the right connections.
As I see it I need :
12v permanent live.
12V live for fridge only when engine is running.
12v live for reversing light.
Finding a permanent live & a feed from the reversing light on the disco will be easy, but what have people done for the 12V switched supply?
Anyone been here before?
Thanks,
Tony
