Hello Everyone,

I brought a 2004 L322 Vogue with 70000 miles last Oct (09)
I love the car, but it is the most unreliable car i have ever owned.

Its latest problem is that it doesn't turn over, power seems good (battery is new as is the alternator)
But it's like an immobilizer is stopping the car turning over. There is nothing when the key is turned. Satnav comes on, Aircon works, Dash is all normal.

It has done this a couple of times before, but usually starts after a few attempts and not sure if its related but shifting the autobox into neutral and back to park seemed to help but not always.

but this time nothing, no click from the starter or anything.

Could it be the Key? I don't have a spare (it is on order though)

Any Ideas?

may not help but worth a go.... spray the key with wd40 and put it in the barrel, move it in and out load of times, wipe with a tissue (black?) then repeat a few times, sometimes the barrel gets a litte sticky and unless all the notches have dropped down the imobiliser will still be in play.

let me know how you get on.

Thanks for the quick response, I will try tomorrow - Fingers Crossed.

I'm also taking a heavy duty battery booster, just incase it is a battery issue.

I will let you know.

Cheers

The switch on the auto box that detects neutral or park is shagged so the car thinks it is in gear and does not enable the starter circuit:(

If it is the starter inhibitor, is there any way to start the car to get it to a garage? even if its in "Limp Mode" its currently parked in an underground carpark. So the RAC will have a job getting it out!!

Let me know if you find the cause, as mine's started doing this in the last few days. thougt it was the key so used the spare and that seemed fine, but it's done it agin today so guess that's not the problem. don't really want to go renewing parts in the hope of finding the fault if I can avoid it.

Hi , my 06 TD6 has just started doing this. It wont turn the engine sometimes but if i turn the key off and on again a few times it usually fires up. When it doesnt start it also doesnt light up the dash lights. Any ideas???

Hello, sorry this is my first post here, but did anyone ever get to the bottom of this problem, I have a 03 plate L322 Td6 the key turns in the ignition but there is now power at the starter, I have replaced the lowest part of the ignition switch (the contact cup bit) bit still nothing, a diagnostic computer says the key is being recognised but still no start.

Gearbox inhibited switch, try moving , shaking gear selector whilst holding key in start position
