Honestly???? You really don't want to know! I've got a 1998 1.8 Freelader (yes I know, what a muppet!) had no problems with it at all, until now that is....so thought I'd register on here to get some info. I've always been into modifying hot hatches but the missus loves the freelander 1, and as we got two kiddies now I was ordered to get something more 'family' orientated.
 
bit of a risk, do a search on here.K series engine can be a bit naughty from time to time.And ya kiddies would be just as safe in a polo
 
I did get it for a fantastic price, and as my old beemer had decided to break on me I went in two feet first and got the Freelander......before reading about all the problems!!!! I always research before buying, but didn't this time. Doh!
 
you only need to worry a little bit. we're all here to help you out like one big family. be hard pushed to call it "one big happy family" as someone's always moaning, or giving you grief for owning a freelander.

welcome to the forum, don't take it too seriously, and be prepared for some leg pulling. However, look beyond the nonsense and the answers you need will be here.
