Hello, im new to the p38 scene. first one ive owned, shes an Oxford blue '98 4.6 hse. a few problems but Ill read through first before asking any silly newbie questions (hopefully).
I dont have any great skills in the mechanic/electrical dept and only basic tools. I know enough to know i dont know enough about her so excuse any thingummy under the oojamaflip explainations please.

Hi there and welcome, I've a p38 too, 4.0 variety. It's completely useless in the reliability scores, but i still love it

Thankyou Kermit ( I think lol) Ive already found that out, broke the key putting new battery in (only got the one key) and have found that the local dealership is all too happy to charge me nearly 250 for another lol Fortunately I have the EKA code (once id worked out how to enter it ;) Started up first time.) and the key still works sometimes without having to reenter it every time. Cosmetic as far as Im concerned, theres other things that need dealing with first but its a new hobby and ive had more expensive ones.
I've noticed that electrical and cosmetics are expensive but mechanical parts are fairly inexpensive. Tbh, I was all googly eyed when I saw the add, Id bought it before I went to look at her if Im honest lol Looking forward to some mucky hands and working out how to use her properly.

Welcome:)

Enjoy your new hobby:)
Your tool collection will increase and the gurus on here will talk you through most things, when needed.
If it’s just the case busted on your key you can by cases. And only 1 key is living on the edge:eek::D

Enjoy her:)

Thankyou Marion, 1 key will do for now, I expect Ill have to find one of those BeCM things and a couple more keys in the near future but till then, wing n a prayer.
Ive no doubt my tool collection and parts suppliers phone numbers will increase too lol

You can get replacement keys from the dealer. That must be better than replacing the becm and all the associated faff
