Just a quick intro, after some nice help on my first posts.

I bought my first Freelander last year - TD4 Kalahari. 53 plate so expected a few issues. All the usual have cropped up. Rear tailgate handle came off, Rear window opening. Oil pressure sensor, misfire.

Gladly a good service and a swift change of filters stopped the lumpy engine. I think the last seller had his engineer stick a load of thick oil in to hide the engine rattle, but its not that bad.

Everything else is fixed, and having passed its first MOT with me, it is going to get some good valeting and tidying. Its in good condition despite someone in a van or lorry reversing into it whilst in a carpark, and trashing the headlamp and putting scrapes all down the front bumper (then leaving without trace). Hopefully I can hide these a bit when I get some plastic cleaner, and blacken the bumper.

Its actually a nice drive. Better than I expected - especially after the first month with the lumpy tick over and smoke kicking out.

I once rebuilt an old Mk1 Astra, but since then, with cars becoming less tinker friendly, I've not been under the bonnet much with my other cars. But the Freelander has given my spanners a new lease of life, and I've been grateful for all the threads on here so far for pointing me in the right direction, when I've looked up a fault.

At least all the faults are fairly common, and usually a quick fix is available.

Maybe next year I'll upgrade to the facelift model with less miles on the clock, but lets see how I get on with tinkering and getting this nice and tidy.

Cheers all.

Looks like you've been ignored. We should have a rotor for members to scan the Intro forum and say Hi. So I'm on rotor for the next 5 mins....

Hi :)

... You know we're not ignoring you, cos your Freelander section thread was a good/interesting one and got decent feedback. Hope you hang around.

Thanks, yes not going anywhere. I'm looking forward to tinkering with my Landy. Just hoping I don't find too hard work to do, or I'll be upgrading for a newer version, when I sell my camper van!
