I'm so glad I kept the 300tdi defender when I decided to embark on the td5 journey I've been putting off for years. I recently was seduces by a nice clean , dryish, light green discovery 2. So far it's managed 550 miles failed to start once had a bad connection to the starter, and has now sat on my drive for the past 4 days with air in the fuel lines and a very fizzy injector. I've also dicovered diesel in the water and water in the diesel, probably got diesel in the oil as well. Oh and the doris doesnt like the clutch.
So, it booked in to have the injector o rings etc done and I will fight with the problem of getting the head unit to talk to the freelander cd changer I have. If anyone can point me to a supplier of clutch helper springs I would be very grateful.
Other than that its a nice vehicle drives beautfully when it starts.

Yes the clutch is heavy and also a bit low as standard. I made a pedal template, cut out a steel plate and bolted it to the pedal around 20mm higher, (obviously pedal rubber is now on the spaced out plate)

This brings the clutch pedal to the same height as the brake, it's still heavy of course but much easier for us shortarses to push right down!!!
