Evening everybody, I joined the landyzone a while back when I needed a couple of Sankey trailers for a project I was working on and was very pleased with the response I received from everyone.
I run a 1942 Willys Jeep which I restored from the ground up and a matching trailer, It was featured in the Spring issue of Practical Classics in the readers restoration feature. The first time a military 4x4 has been featured.
However it is not very practical and also I need something else to get me out of the wifes hair so I have decided to look for a SWB truck cab pre 73 or as old as possible to rebuild.
I have a low budget but if anyone has one that is in the way and does not want it crushing and wants to see it rebuilt just send me a PM telling me how what it is where it is and how much you want for it......
If I get one of these then no doubt you will be hearing much more from me.

Hi there welcome. just out of interest i have a mate at school who thinks that his Willys jeep would beat a Defender off road. I say its a load of bollocks. What do you think? i'll look out for a SWB truck foryou an if i see one i will PM you.

the fender might have better articulation but it'll break by the end of the day while the jeep will still be going in 30 years

To be honest the jeep is lighter and narrower and so to me seems more agile. The engine has so much torque it is unbelievable and if you look at the pictures of the jeep with 6 to 8 people up and towing a field gun or trailer over the Bocage in Normandy they are just unbelievable.
They are also so user and repairer friendly that they will go on forever.
However you need to be 5'2" weight around 8 stone wet through.
Not care about getting wet,
Not care about being cold
Not worrying about the pain in your lower back from the solid ride. and don't worry that you cant drive steer change gear and wipe the windows by hand all at the same time its all part of the Wyllis charm.
