Helo My name is Mand.
Im new to the forum and new to owning a Landy
Sadly the experience is not a happy one from the start!
I bought probably the worst one you could possibly buy a Freelander Serengeti 1.8 petrol.
Ive had her since October 2010 and its been nothing but trouble
I thought I would join to see If I can make JIL (my Landy a happy girl again)
If not shes goin the long walk!!! :(

Hello, the usual cure for you're problem is to set fire to it, claim on the insurance, and buy a real Land Rover. :D

Hi Mand,

erm hard to know what to say....... :(

I wish you had joined the forum first,

1.8 petrol doesn't have a great reputation, there are loads of Freebee owners on here though who will know what is the best you can do with JIL now.

:welcome2:

As another (the other??) owner of a 1.8 Freelander double welcome and sorry to hear for your traumas.
We will be pleased if our £1800, '98 105k miler lasts another 18 months but so far we have been pretty lucky and only have the usual water leaks and noises and it is only a towcar so not the main vehicle.

It doesn't help that I really don't like diesels so that limits my choice anyway and the stories about Discoverys seem way worse than those for Freelanders.

Not that I can be much help but, what problems have you had?

:welcome:

1.8's are ok if you get one that has been looked after, I certainly didn't and you dint either.

but now mines brilliant and yours will be too, just ask if you need any help ;)

Many Thanks for the warm welcome :)
The Immobiliser has decided to have a wobbler (eg back window goes down, makes a clunk sound when you turn the key and wont start the engine). Ive been toild there is an override keycode to help with this problem????
I think the last owner got rid before any of the problems started and shes been well looked after though. it has a personal reg plate, it really is a lovely looking vehicle clean in and out only 62k on the clock. so far shes had 4 new tyres 260 quid a new exhaust 120 quid new head gasket 900 quids worth
And PS I thought about the steal and burn way out LOL just kiddin folks!:D

Welcome here's the place to sort your problems (with the Landy that is) :D

What you want is an owner local who has done the tweeks and you can at least get it serviceable and earn its keep for a bit
