Either a 2, 2A or 3 in 88" form if possible. They all meet the 25+ year rule, but I will have to find one that is stock with the original engine, properly attached VIN and a valid reg. US Customs and Border Patrol are right bastards so I'd work with a decent shipping company to make sure the paperwork is correct.

Registering in my state is easy enough given its age; I just need the police to sign off on the VIN and I can get papers for it (and my neighbor is a state policeman so that's easy), then put some "antique" plates on and I'm good to go! (Seems so simple...)

I've owned (way too) many vehicles including a few British marques like a Triumph TR6 and TR7, a Lotus Europa as well as a RHD Elan, and a Jaguar XJ-S V-12 coupe that decided to catch fire one night on the Interstate... ah well.

I am searching for a Landy Series model, preferably SWB; either RHD or LHD as I'm comfortable driving on either side of the car. Many of the ones I see in the States are either "in a basket," or are fully restored models that are fetching well above my pay grade.

I do make occasional trips to the UK and will be there at the end of this month for a conference. I'll probably take some time to check out some vehicles while I'm there, though I don't have any firm, immediate buying plans (my wife might murder me if I did!) My plans are learning more on this site and searching both sides of the Atlantic for possible vehicles next year.

Welcome to the nut house. First before you do anything else is Study the customs regs for importing a LR into the USA. It has to be original 100%. If you find a likely candidate Buy your parts while in the UK. and ship the whole thing in a sea container. Then do any repairs after you clear customs. More than likely you will need a new chassis and bulkhead along with other steel replacement parts. Good luck.
