Sounds good to me mate, im not really to fussed what people think of them, if if i see a decent one about, ill get it.
Its not so much what they think of them as i said ive been pretty lucky with mine loads of niggles but nothing major...but that is the only thing you are always waiting for the major one, as they have been prone to a lot of serious problems.
You are ion the right track with the diesel...its a good motor, just try and find one with HISTORY...at least then you can see what has been done, also i wouldnt be to bothered with the mileage..the l Series will go on and on with the right servicing.
Any strange noises from the drive train etc walk away..
And if you know someone local whos a GOOD mech its worth taking them along.
I hope im not teaching you to suck eggs here like...
Also look at the electrics they were also a pig on the early ones.Make sure all the windows work and smoothly.
And in all seriousness there are a lot of freelander owners in this forum and i think a lot of them are happy with their motors, just got to look after them a bit more than the Tractors....
All in all i like mine and its been a good motor just. Just need some more room for me next one so its gonna be a DISCO or a DEFENDER.
One last thing if you have any doubts about the freelander you look at to buy..walk away, there are plenty out there.
