Hello world...
After years of yearning and browsing Pinterest (dangerous I know!) I finally caved in an bought myself an old 110.
She’s an ‘89, 2.5NA with almost no service history. It’s been owned by a 72 year old mechanic for years and reportedly had the head reconditioned 2 years ago, the chassis and bulkhead about 3 years ago, and has passed an MOT with no advisories (dubious...)!
I’m planning on installing some short folding bench seats to the back fo occasional use, and am looking at making her camper-able with a split charge, inverter in the back, caravan hookup (why not!), insulation/sound deadening, Velcro curtains and lighting in the back.
Up in the cab I’m looking longingly at the MUD dash upgrades and and likely to install temperature and pressure gauges for the oil, a volt meter and some 12v USB outlets.
Under the hood I’m going to keep it simple for now! Will probably do some preventative stuff to the water pump and change out some old switches and maybe even the rad.
Might go mad and do a repaint with military paint and roller - the current red is of questionable quality!
I look forward to nagging on the forums!!
Der H
PS - thoughts on what to do with a near complete spare 200TDi and gear box and transfer box....cane with the truck! No idea if running. Is it doable to get it running out of the engine bay?
