Hi all,

I've just bought a Freelander TD4, and when I turn in a tight circle, the tyres sound to be skipping over the surface.

I've read up about the inherent issues with the Freelander drivetrain and have had it jacked up and been playing about, so I just wanted to clarify the current state of play.......

with one back wheel up, it will not turn at all

with front and back, same side up, they both turn in the same direction

with both rears up, they turn in opposite directions.

Am I to take it from these results that the viscous is u/s?

(I'm sure that you're sick of drivetrain questions, but I appreciate any help that may follow, cheers)

If your unsure, go 'mondo mode' untill you can check/replace, it could save your IRD and alot of money.

OK, So I've done the tippex test and then had it looked at by a garage.

The viscous is working OK, but the rear diff is getting really hot, so we're looking at a new diff.

Only bought the car the week before last, so trying to get dealer to sort at his expense (I'll let you know how I get on)

Cheers for all of your help :)
